Short Biography
A short biographical text about the artist featured on the portal
Vagelis Stefanopoulos got interested in music from a very young age, studying piano, violin, composition and he is self-taught in electric guitar. Later on he continued his studies in classical piano performance with Yonty Solomon at Trinity College of Music in London.
He has played at numerous festivals and venues including Idyllwild Arts (California), Mama Jazz (Lithuania), Amsec (Austria), Technopolis (Athens), Jazzablanca (Morocco) as well as in many jazz clubs in Greece and abroad.
His work is not only limited into jazz and improvised music performance, but has contributed into numerous projects as a producer and arranger. His album "Sailing on a Marsipus" with the Vagelis Stefanopoulos Trio was released in 2012.
Over the last years he has been touring and performing with a project called Scrap Music, teaming up with other musicians that have influences from different music genres. The concept of the project is based on the use of a loop station which allows the creation of arrangements and compositions on the spot, without any preconceived forms or rehearsals.
Some of the names that Stefanopoulos has collaborated with are: JD Walter, Dave de Rose, David Lynch, Stavros Lantsias, George Kontrafouris and many others.

Το πρώτο του άλμπουμ "Sailing on a Marsipus" με το Vagelis Stefanopoulos Trio κυκλοφόρησε το 2012.
