Takis Farazis was born in Athens in 1964 and got involved in music at an early age. In 1977, he started classical piano studies at the Hellenic Conservatory and he graduated in 1984 with honors in piano and harmony. While studying classical music he was attracted to jazz and started playing with acclaimed musicians of the Greek jazz scene. In 1983, he attended music classes with the Hungarian jazz pianist Bela Lacatos and one year later he co-founded the group Iskra, with which he presented some of his own compositions.
He has composed music for the National Theatre of Greece, mainly music for Ancient Greek Drama productions that have been presented at the Festival of Epidaurus, as well as music for the cinema.
Takis Farazis has worked in music arrangement with a great number of composers, musicians and singers of the Greek music scene. He has also taken part in numerous recordings and concerts in Greece and abroad as a pianist. His musical idiom combines a wide range of music styles balancing between classical, jazz and world music.
His first personal album "Spells of musing" was released in 1996. He participated in the album called "The Athens Concert" of the sax legend Charles Lloyd. Beside his career as a performing musician and as a composer, he also works as a piano teacher.

Ο Τάκης Φαραζής γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1964 και άρχισε να ασχολείται με τη μουσική από πολύ μικρή ηλικία. Το 1977 ξεκίνησε μαθήματα κλασικού πιάνου στο Ελληνικό Ωδείο και αποφοίτησε το 1984 παίρνοντας δίπλωμα πιάνου και αρμονίας με άριστα. Παράλληλα ασχολήθηκε με την τζαζ και συνεργάστηκε με πολλούς μουσικούς από την ελληνική σκηνή. Το 1983 παρακολούθησε μαθήματα μουσικής με τον Ούγγρο πιανίστα της τζαζ Bela Lakatos και ένα χρόνο αργότερα έγινε συνιδρυτής του συγκροτήματος Iskra, με το οποίο παρουσίασε μερικές από τις συνθέσεις του.
Έχει συνθέσει μουσική για το Εθνικό Θέατρο, ειδικότερα μουσική για παραστάσεις αρχαίου ελληνικού δράματος στο Φεστιβάλ Επιδαύρου και επίσης έχει γράψει μουσική για τον κινηματογράφο.  Ο Τάκης Φαραζής έχει συνεργαστεί με μεγάλο αριθμό Ελλήνων συνθετών, τραγουδιστών και μουσικών ως ενορχηστρωτής και ως πιανίστας σε πολλές ηχογραφήσεις και συναυλίες στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό. Η μουσική του προσέγγιση συνδυάζει μια μεγάλη γκάμα από στιλ, ισορροπώντας μεταξύ κλασικής μουσικής, τζαζ και world music.
Το πρώτο του προσωπικό CD "Ονειρέματα" κυκλοφόρησε το 1996. Συμμετείχε ως μουσικός στο άλμπουμ "The Athens Concert" του θρύλου του σαξοφώνου, Charles Lloyd. Εκτός από συνθέτης και μουσικός ερμηνευτής δουλεύει επίσης και ως δάσκαλος πιάνου.
