Banda Magda

Magda Giannikou was born in Athens in 1981. She graduated from the National Conservatory and she also studied at the Filippos Nakas Conservatory. She continued her studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston and graduated in 2008.
In 2011 she formed her world music ensemble/collective Banda Magda, a band that moves from samba to French chanson and Greek folk tune. She has collaborated with many internationally famous artists and groups such as the Kronos Quartet and Snarky Puppy.

Η Μάγδα Γιαννίκου γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1981. Αποφοίτησε από το Εθνικό Ωδείο, ενώ επίσης μελέτησε στο Ωδείο Φίλιππος Νάκας. Συνέχισε τις σπουδές της στο Berklee College of Music της Βοστόνης και αποφοίτησε το 2008.
Το 2011 σχημάτισε το σχήμα/κολεκτίβα Banda Magda, ένα συγκρότημα που κινείται από τη σάμπα ως το γαλλικό τραγούδι και τη ελληνική λαϊκή μουσική. 'Εχει συνεργαστεί με διεθνώς φημισμένους καλλιτέχνες και συγκροτήματα όπως το Kronos Quartet και οι Snarky Puppy.
