Short Biography

Gadjo Dilo were formed in 2009 by Sotiris Pomonis and Kostas Mitropoulos. It is a band that fuses gypsy jazz and swing tradition, with the sounds and colors of old greek songs. The line-up of the group was later completed by Sergio Chrissovitsanos (violin), Yiorgos Tsitsoulis (accordion) and Iliana Tsapatsari (vocals).
The band's repertoire initially included covers of Django Rheinhardt's compositions as well as other 30's and 40's swing standards. Then they began to experiment in bringing together this music with old greek songs. Gadjo Dilo have performed in many festivals in Greece and abroad. Their debut album "Manouche De Grec" was released in 2013.

Οι Gadjo Dilo δημιουργήθηκαν το 2009 από τον Σωτήρη Πομόνη και τον Κώστα Μητρόπουλο. Είναι ένα γκρουπ που συνδυάζει την gypsy jazz και τη swing παράδοση, με τους ήχους και τα χρώματα του παλιού ελληνικού τραγουδιού. Αργότερα στη σύνθεση του γκρουπ προστέθηκαν ο Σέργιος Χρυσοβιτσάνος (βιολί), ο Γιώργος Τσιατσούλης (ακκορντεόν) και η Ηλιάννα Τσαπατσάρη (τραγούδι).
Το ρεπερτόριο του αρχικά περιλάμβανε διασκευές ορχηστρικών κομματιών του Django Rheinhardt και άλλων συνθετών της swing μουσικής των δεκαετιών του ’30 και του’40. Στη συνέχεια άρχισαν να πειραματίζονται με το «πάντρεμα» αυτής της μουσικής με το παλιό ελληνικό τραγούδι.
Οι Gadjo Dilo έχουν συμμετάσχει σε πολλά φεστιβάλ στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό.
Το πρώτο τους άλμπουμ Manouche De Grec κυκλοφόρησε το 2013.
