Short Biography

Jason Wastor was born in Athens in 1996 and was raised into a musical family. He started playing the drums at the age of 12 and after a few years he started studying with Spyros Panagiotopoulos.
In 2015, he received a scholarship to study at the S.U.N.Y. Purchase College (New York) and had the opportunity to have some legendary musicians of jazz as teachers: John Riley, Carl Allen, Kenny Washington, Joe Farnsworth and Matt Wilson
In 2017, he was awarded the legendary sax player James Moody Scholarship and continued his studies through the Gamechanger project (Wetchester, NY) while at the same time he was teaching young students in NYC.
He has appeared in concerts and theatrical performances at both New York and Athens, where he currently lives and he is very active at the Greek jazz scene.
Jason Wastor is also a member of the new George Kontrafouris piano trio.

Ο Ιάσονας Γουάστωρ γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1996 και μεγάλωσε σε οικογένεια μουσικών. Ξεκίνησε ντραμς σε ηλικία 12 ετών και λίγα χρόνια αργότερα θήτευσε δίπλα στον Σπύρο Παναγιωτόπουλο.
Το 2015 κέρδισε υποτροφία στο S.U.N.Y. Purchase College (New York) υπό τη διδασκαλία των θρύλων της διεθνούς τζαζ σκηνής John Riley, Carl Allen, Kenny Washington, Joe Farnsworth και Matt Wilson
Το 2017 κέρδισε, μεταξύ πάρα πολλών συμμετεχόντων, την υποτροφία του θρυλικού σαξοφωνίστα της τζαζ, James Moody και συνέχισε τις σπουδές του σε μεταπτυχιακό επίπεδο, διδάσκοντας παράλληλα σε νεαρούς μαθητές, μέσω του προγράμματος Gamechanger στο Wetchester (NY).
Έχει εμφανιστεί σε μουσικές σκηνές αλλά και σε θεατρικές παραγωγές στη Νέα Υόρκη και την Αθήνα, όπου έχει επιστρέψει και ήδη έχει πολύ πλούσια δραστηριότητα στην ελληνική σκηνή της τζαζ μουσικής.
Μεταξύ άλλων, ο Ιάσονας Γουάστωρ είναι μέλος του νέου piano trio του Γιώργου Κοντραφούρη.
