Short Biography
Christina Psycha is a vocalist, songwriter and composer. She studied classical singing, advanced theory and jazz vocal performance at the National Conservatory of Athens. Moreover, she completed the master's degree program "Jazz Performance & New Technologies" at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She has attended seminars given by well-known artists, and most recently one by Sheila Jordan, that took place in Athens in February 2019.
Her songs are based on latin rhythms mixed with early jazz elements. Her performance melodic style is influenced from the Renaissance and Byzantine music and she likes to blend these traditions on her compositions. Her lyrics are written in Greek language. She also plays the piano and the guitar.
Her debut album was released in 2021 and includes 11 original compositions and 1 arrangement of a Greek traditional song. The album is called "Violetera", meaning the girl who serve flowers.
Since 2010 she has begun to perform in local and international stages singing jazz and latin songs and since 2015, she has been performing as a leader with her own compositions in festivals around Greece (such as Sakotura Jazz Festival & Hydra Jazz Festival). After the release of her debut album, she was invited as an artist in resident from the Comedy cafe in Amsterdam and along with the European Quintet they performed four concerts, in July 2021.

Η Χριστίνα Ψύχα είναι τραγουδίστρια και συνθέτρια. Έχει σπουδάσει κλασικό και τζαζ τραγούδι, ανώτερα θεωρητικά μουσικής και προσχολική αγωγή. Ολοκλήρωσε το μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών με τίτλο "Jazz Performance & New Technologies". Έχει παρακολουθήσει σεμινάρια από γνωστούς καλλιτέχνες με τελευταίο αυτό της Sheila Jordan, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στην Αθήνα τον Φεβρουάριο του 2019.
Οι μουσικές και τα τραγούδια της χαρακτηρίζονται από έντονους ρυθμούς βασισμένους στην τζαζ και λάτιν παράδοση. Οι στίχοι της στο μεγαλύτερο μέρος τους είναι στα ελληνικά. Παίζει κιθάρα και πιάνο.
Το 2021 κυκλοφόρησε η πρώτη της δισκογραφική δουλειά με τίτλο “Βιολετέρα”, με συνθέσεις δικές της και ενορχηστρώσεις από τον Νικόλα Αναδολή.
Από το 2009 συμμετέχει σε συναυλίες και παραστάσεις και εμφανίζεται επαγγελματικά σε μουσικές σκηνές της Αθήνας και της επαρχίας. Από το 2015, εμφανίζεται σε τζαζ φεστιβάλ της Ελλάδας (Sakotura Jazz Festival & Hydra Jazz Festival) και μετά την κυκλοφορία του δίσκου της συμμετείχε με το European Quintet για σε 4 παραστάσεις ως "Artist in Resindency” στο Amsterdam (Comedy Cafe), τον Ιούλιο του 2021.
