Short Biography
Ioannis "Johnny" Tzimas was born in Athens in 1991. He plays double bass, electric bass and guitar. He took his first steps on the double bass and the electric bass in Athens with Nikos Mastrokostopoulos.
In 2016 he started studying double bass in the artistic jazz course at the University of Music, Theater and Media in Hanover with Robert Lucaciu, Michael Gutenkauf and Phil Donkin.
In addition to his interests in jazz, rock & pop, he has a personal focus on mixing contemporary jazz with elements of Balkan folklore.

Ο Ιωάννης «Johnny» Τζήμας γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1991. Παίζει κοντραμπάσο, ηλεκτρικό μπάσο και κιθάρα. Έκανε τα πρώτα του βήματα στο κοντραμπάσο και στο ηλεκτρικό μπάσο στην Αθήνα με τον Νίκο Μαστροκωστόπουλο.
To 2016 ξεκίνησε να σπουδάζει κοντραμπάσο στο στο Πανεπιστήμιο Μουσικής, Θεάτρου και Μέσων Ενημέρωσης στο Ανόβερο με τους Robert Lucaciu, Michael Gutenkauf και Phil Donkin.
Εκτός από τα ενδιαφέροντά του για την τζαζ, το ροκ και την ποπ, εστιάζει στη μίξη της σύγχρονης τζαζ με στοιχεία φολκλόρ από τα Βαλκάνια.
