Short Biography
Drummer Vasilis Panagiotopoulos was born and raised in Athens. Following in the footsteps of his father, Spyros Panagiotopoulos, he began playing percussion at the age of six, studying classical percussion at the Athens Conservatory, from where he graduated at the age of 19.
At the age of 20 he discovered his love for jazz and since then he has dedicated himself to it, while maintaining his love and concern for the Greek musical tradition.
He has appeared in Europe and New York with various bands of many different musical styles. He holds a degree in Jazz Performance from the Prins Claus Conservatory of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, the Netherlands, and has studied alongside Ralph Peterson Jr., Gene Jackson and John Riley.

Ο ντραμερ Βασίλης Παναγιωτόπουλος γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στην Αθήνα. Ακολουθώντας τα χνάρια του πατέρα του Σπύρου Παναγιωτόπουλου, ξεκίνησε σε ηλικία έξι ετών να παίζει κρουστά σπουδάζοντας κλασικά κρουστά στο Ωδείο Αθηνών,απ’ όπου και αποφοίτησε σε ηλικία 19 ετών.
Στα είκοσι του ανακάλυψε την αγάπη του για τη τζαζ και έκτοτε έχει αφιερωθεί σε αυτήν, διατηρώντας παράλληλα την αγάπη και την ενασχοληση του για την ελληνική μουσική παράδοση.
Έχει εμφανισθεί σε Ευρώπη και Νέα Υόρκη με διάφορα μουσικά σχήματα πολλών διαφορετικών μουσικών στυλ. Είναι κάτοχος Πτυχίου στην Ερμηνεία της Τζαζ από το Κονσερβατόριο Prins Claus του Πανεπιστημίου Εφαρμοσμένων Επιστημών Hanze, στο Γκρόνινγκεν της Ολλανδίας, και έχει μελετήσει δίπλα στους Ralph Peterson Jr., Gene Jackson και John Riley.
