Sphinx

Drummer George Trantalidis started his career playing with the rock group Socrates. He was a founding member of the group Sphinx.
His first personal album "Clarification", recorded in Hungary, was released in 1981 and was succeeded by "One, Two, Three, Four" (1982), also recorded in Hungary. With his album "Hores" (1983) he started merging jazz with greek traditional music. From 1984 to 1989 he also produced a jazz radio show.
Since 1989 he holds his personal studio producing his own records as well as making productions for selected Greek and foreign artists.
He has performed in internatioally famous festivals (such as the Jazz India Festival and the Singapore Jazz Festival) and has collaborated with many Greek musicians as well as with famous artists from abroad (Bela Lakatos, Tony Lakatos, George Vukan, Alex Foster, Attila Laszlo, Laszlo Gardony, Gilad Atzmon, Nick Gravenites, Chip Jackson, John Hicks, Andy Sheppard and many others).
In 2004 he participated as composer and arranger in the starting ceremony of the Athens Olympic Games with his composition "Karpos".

Ο ντράμερ Γιώργος Τρανταλίδης άρχισε την καριέρα του παίζοντας με το ροκ γκρουπ Socrates. Ήταν ιδρυτικό μέλος των Sphinx.
Το πρώτο του προσωπικό άλμπουμ "Clarification", ηχογραφήθηκε στην Ουγγαρία και κυκλοφόρησε το 1981. Το διαδέχτηκε το 1982 το "One, Two, Three, Four", που επίσης ηχογραφήθηκε στην Ουγγαρία. Με το άλμπουμ του "Hores" (1983) άρχισε να συνδυάζει την τζαζ με την ελληνική παραδοσιακή μουσική.
Από το 1984 ως το 1989 δούλεψε επίσης στο ραδιόφωνο. Από το 1989 διατηρεί δικό του στούντιο, όπου ηχογραφεί τις δουλειές του και κάνει παραγωγές άλλων Ελλήνων και ξένων καλλιτεχνών.
Έχει παίξει σε διεθνώς γνωστά φεστιβάλ (όπως το Jazz India Festival και το Singapore Jazz Festival) και έχει συνεργαστεί με Έλληνες και διάσημους ξένους καλλιτέχνες (Bela Lakatos, Tony Lakatos, George Vukan, Alex Foster, Attila Laszlo, Laszlo Gardony, Gilad Atzmon, Nick Gravenites, Chip Jackson, John Hicks, Andy Sheppard and many others).
Το 2004 συμμετείχε ως συνθέτης και ενορχηστρωτής στην τελετή έναρξης των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων της Αθήνας με τη σύνθεσή του "Karpos".
