Spyros Panagiotopoulos was born in Athens. During the mid '80s he studied classical percussion at Athens Conservatory and then he started his professional career performing and recording with the most notable Greek singers and composers. He has also performed with Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Russian Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London.
In the early '90s he became one of the founding members of the group Page One and also a member of the "Jazz Club of the third program" a weekly show of the Greek Ρadio and Television (ERT). He has played with famous european and US jazz musicians such as Markus Stockhausen, Arild Andersen, Andy Sheppard, Bendik Hofseth, Sheila Jordan and Kevin Mahogany, as well as with considerable Greek artists such as Yiorgos Fakanas, Vasilis Rakopoulos and Dimitri Vassilakis.
In 2012 he formed the quintet BFAM (Brothers From Another Mother), which released its' debut "Happy Hour" in 2020. Since 1993 he has been teaching at various conservatories such as Philippos Nakas Conservatory and Athens Conservatory. He has also released an educational material on drums' technique.

Ο Σπύρος Παναγιωτόπουλος γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα. Στα μέσα της δεκαετίας του 1980 σπούδασε κλασικά κρουστά στο Ωδείο Αθηνών και στη συνέχεια ξεκίνησε την επαγγελματική του πορεία παίζοντας και ηχογραφώντας με τους πιο σημαντικούς Έλληνες τραγουδιστές και συνθέτες.
Έχει ακόμη εμφανιστεί με ορχήστρες όπως
η Φιλαρμονική της Πράγας, η Φιλαρμονική του Κρεμλίνου και η Royal Symphonic Orchestra του Λονδίνου. Στις αρχές του 1990 ήταν ιδρυτικό μέλος των Page One και βασικό μέλος της εβδομαδιαίας τηλεοπτικής εκπομπής της ΕΡΤ "Το Jazz Club του Τρίτου".
Έχει συνεργαστεί με διάσημους ευρωπαίους και αμερικανούς μουσικούς της τζαζ, όπως οι Markus Stockhausen, Arild Andersen, Andy Sheppard, Bendik Hofseth, Sheila Jordan και Kevin Mahogany, αλλά και πολλούς σημαντικούς έλληνες μουσικούς όπως ο Γιώργος Φακανάς, ο Βασίλης Ρακόπουλος και ο Δημήτρης Βασιλάκης.
Το 2012 ίδρυσε το κουιντέτο BFAM (Brothers From Another Mother) με το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε το πρώτο του άλμπουμ "Happy Hour" το 2020. Από το 1993 διδάσκει σε διάφορα Ωδεία (όπως Φίλιππος Νάκας και Ωδείο Αθηνών). Έχει εκδώσει εκπαιδευτικό υλικό για την τεχνική των τυμπάνων.
