Numea project

Yiorgos Kostopoulos started studying electric bass at the age of fifteem. In 2015 he continued his studies at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory, with Yiotis Kiourtsoglou and Kostas Konstantinou. From 2011 to 2016 he lived in New York and studied double bass at the Aaron Copland School of Music. He became a member of the NYC scene for three years and performed both as a sideman and as a leader, with famous artists and venues.
Since returning to Greece he started collaborating with the top Greek jazz musicians.
His personal debut album "Last Trip to the Moon" was released in 2016.

Ο Γιώργος Κωστόπουλος ξεκίνησε μαθήματα ηλεκτρικού μπάσου στα 15 του. Το 2015 συνέχισε τις σπουδές του στο Ωδείο Φίλιππος Νάκας με τον Γιώτη Κιουρτσόγλου και τον Κώστα Κωνσταντίνου. Από το 2011 μέχρι το 2016 έζησε στην Νέα Υόρκη όπου σπούδασε κοντραμπάσο και ηλεκτρικό μπάσο στο Aaron Copland School of Music και για 3 χρόνια συμμετείχε ενεργά στη μουσική σκηνή της πόλης, παίζοντας είτε ως sideman, είτε ως bandleader με πολλούς γνωστούς καλλιτέχνες σε ιστορικούς συναυλιακούς χώρους της πόλης.
Με την επιστροφή του στην Ελλάδα άρχισε να συνεργάζεται με τους κορυφαίους Έλληνες τζαζ μουσικούς.
Το 2016 κυκλοφόρησε το πρώτο του προσωπικό άλμπουμ "Last Trip to the Moon".
