Manos Loutas was born in Chios island in 1966 and was raised in Pireaus. He started his electric bass studies in 1980 and then the double bass studies in 1982 at the Pindareio, the National and the Athens conservatories. Since 1984 he works professionally. His first experience in a jazz group was with Dimitris Zafirelis. He completed his studies at the New School - Mannes College Of Music in NYC and graduated in 1992 with a Jazz Bass Performance diploma. Among his teachers were Richie Beirach, Larry Grenadier, Doug Weiss, Phil Markowitz and Mike Longo. In New York he participated in a Musical Off Broadway Show in Westbeth Theatre and with Mannes College Big Band under the maestro Rich Shemaria. He performed at Mondo Perso, Five Spot, Beacon Theatre and in other NYC and Chicago clubs.
He has collaborated with famous artists of the Greek and international jazz scene, such as: Bob Magnuson, Brian Blade, Matt Garrison, Tia Fuller, Jason Yarde, Alex Foster, Jack Walrath, David Liebman and many more.
Since 1986 he has participated in more than 300 recordings with artists such as Yiorgos Dalaras, Alkistis Protopsalti, Eleni Dimou, Giorgos Hadzinasios, Maria Farantouri etc. He has performed in numerous venues all over Greece, as well as abroad. He has also collaborated with the Mikis Theodorakis Orchestra, the Athens Big Band and the Athens State Symphony Orchestra.
Since 2015 he also works with his band, the Manos Loutas Trio.

Ο Μάνος Λούτας γεννήθηκε στη Χίο το 1966 και μεγάλωσε στον Πειραιά. Ξεκίνησε τις σπουδές του στο ηλεκτρικό μπάσο το 1980 και στο κοντραμπάσο το 1982 στα Ωδεία Πινδάρειο, Εθνικό και Ωδείο Αθηνών. Από το 1984 άρχισε να παίζει επαγγελματικά, ενώ η πρώτη εμπειρία σαν μουσικός σε τζαζ σχήμα, ήταν με τον γκρουπ του Δημήτρη Ζαφειρέλη. Ολοκλήρωσε τις σπουδές του στο New School - Mannes College Of Music στη Νέα Υόρκη και αποφοίτησε το 1992 με πτυχίο Jazz Bass Performance, με καθηγητές όπως οι Richie Beirach, Larry Grenadier, Doug Weiss, Phil Markowitz και Mike Longo. Στη Νέα Υόρκη συμμετείχε στο Musical Off Broadway Show στο Westbeth Theatre, καθώς και με την Mannes College Big Band με μαέστρο τον Rich Shemaria. Εμφανίστηκε στο Mondo Perso, το Five Spot, το Beacon Theatre και σε άλλα club της Νέας Υόρκης και του Σικάγο.
Έχει συνεργαστεί με διάσημους καλλιτέχνες της εγχώριας και διεθνούς τζαζ σκηνής, όπως: Bob Magnuson, Brian Blade, Matt Garrison, Tia Fuller, Jason Yarde, Alex Foster, Jack Walrath, David Liebman και πολλούς ακόμη.
Από το 1986 μέχρι σήμερα έχει συμμετάσχει σε περισσότερες από 300 ηχογραφήσεις άλμπουμ με καλλιτέχνες όπως Γιώργος Νταλάρας, Άλκηστις Πρωτοψάλτη, Ελένη Δήμου, Γιώργος Χατζηνάσιος, Μαρία Φαραντούρη, κ.ά. Έχει εμφανιστεί σε πολυάριθμες μουσικές σκηνές σε όλη την Ελλάδα, καθώς και το εξωτερικό. Έχει συνεργαστεί επίσης με την Λαϊκή Ορχήστρα Μίκης Θεοδωράκης, την Big Band του Δήμου Αθηναίων και τη Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα του Δήμου Αθηναίων.
Από το 2015, έχει δημιουργήσει το προσωπικό του σχήμα Manos Loutas Trio.
