John Balikos Trio

John Balikos was born in Athens in 1964 and got involved with music at 18. He started playing the keyboards and studied advanced music theory and composition at the Appolonion Conservatory. In 1984 he co-founded the group "Finding the name" and in 1989 he started studying jazz harmony.
Since 1991 he has been living on the island of Paros, where he has been working as a music teacher. His has been composing for large ensembles, symphony orchestra, piano sonatas, films and theatre.
In 2011 he formed the John Balikos Trio. The group released its first album in 2012 and started performing in Greece and abroad (Italy, France etc.).

Ο Γιάννης Μπαλίκος γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1964 και άρχισε να ασχολείται με τη μουσική από τα 18 του. Ξεκίνησε να παίζει πλήκτρα και να μελετά μουσική θεωρία και σύνθεση στο Απολλώνιο Ωδείο της Αθήνας. Το 1984 έγινε συνιδρυτής του συγκροτήματος Finding the Name. To 1989 άρχισε να μελετά τζαζ αρμονία. Από το 1991 ζει στην Πάρο, όπου δουλεύει ως καθηγητής μουσικής. Συνθέτει για μεγάλα σύνολα, συμφωνική ορχήστρα, γράφει σονάτες για πιάνο, μουσική για φιλμ και θεατρικές παραστάσεις.
Το 2011 σχημάτισε το John Balikos Trio. το πρώτο άλμπουμ του γκρουπ κυκλοφόρησε το 2012 κι από τότε ξεκίνησε να εμφανίζεται στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό (Ιταλία, Γαλλία και αλλού).
