Short Biography
Vanessa Kourtesi comes from Athens and is based in Rotterdam and Athens. She has performed in many venues singing rebetika and traditional songs and has collaborated with many musicians of the genre, from the time she was still studying at the Law School of Athens.
She studied at the World Music department of the Codarts-University of the Arts in Rotterdam, specializing in Eastern Mediterranean song and music. There she had the opportunity to get in touch with many musical cultures and traditions and to interact with musicians from all over the world.
She has attended classes with Harjo Pasveer, Anna Linardou, Savina Giannatou, Harry Lambraki and many others.
She has participated as a member in many traditional and folk bands such as: "Merem", "The Circle Orchestra", "Serenade Ensemble", etc. and has performed at festivals in Greece and abroad.
She teaches vocals and gives lessons and seminars on the voice and rebetiko / traditional song in Greece, Belgium, the Netherlands and France.
In 2022 she released her first EP entitled "Spending time with Esther".

Η Βανέσσα Κουρτέση κατάγεται από την Αθήνα και έχει βάση το Ρότερνταμ και την Αθήνα. Έχει εμφανιστεί σε πολλούς χώρους τραγουδώντας ρεμπέτικα και παραδοσιακά τραγούδια και έχει συνεργάστηκε με πολλούς μουσικούς του είδους, από την περίοδο που ακόμα σπούδαζε στη Νομική σχολή της Αθήνας.
Σπούδασε στο World Music department του Codarts-University of the Arts στο Ρότερνταμ με ειδίκευση στο τραγούδι και την μουσική της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου. Εκεί είχε την ευκαιρία να έρθει σε επαφή με πολλές μουσικές κουλτούρες και παραδόσεις και να διαδράσει με μουσικούς από όλο τον κόσμο.
Έχει παρακολουθήσει μαθήματα μεταξύ άλλων με τους Harjo Pasveer, Άννα Λινάρδου, Σαβίνα Γιαννάτου, Χάρη Λαμπράκη και πολλούς ακόμη.
Έχει συμμετάσχει ως μέλος σε πολλά συγκροτήματα και σχήματα που κινούνται γύρω από την παραδοσιακή και λαϊκή μουσική της Ελλάδας και άλλων παραδόσεων όπως: «Merem», «The Circle Orchestra», «Serenade Ensemble», κ.ά και έχει εμφανιστεί σε φεστιβάλ στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό.
Διδάσκει φωνητική και παραδίδει μαθήματα και σεμινάρια για τη φωνή αλλά και το ρεμπέτικο/παραδοσιακό τραγούδι σε Ελλάδα, Βέλγιο, Ολλανδία και Γαλλία.
Το 2022 κυκλοφόρησε το πρώτο της EP με τίτλο “ Spending time with Esther”.
