Short Biography

Panagiotis Andreou was born in Athens in 1978. He started studying music very early and continued his studies at Berklee College of Music since 1999. Then he moved and settled in New York.
He is a bass player who blends electronic jazz, Latin and Balkan music with his unique style of playing and singing, drawing from a wide range of influences spanning funk, timba, Konnakol (Indian Scat) to Balkan and Greek folkloric music.
He is a founding member of the New York Gypsy All-stars, a band that performs regularly at Drom in New York City, tours extensively internationally and has appeared in world renowned jazz, classical and Gypsy festivals and venues (Musikverein, St Pölten Festspielhaus, NY Gypsy Festival, Pierre Boulez Saal).
He also performs, tours and records with the electric groove trio, Now vs Now, featuring Mark Guiliana and Jason Lindner.
He has played and recorded with the band Gonzalo Grau y La Clave Secreta.
In 2010, he was awarded “Latin Bass Player of the Year” by the Latin Jazz Corner blog.
