Vassilis Tabropoulos was born in Athens in 1967. He started playing the piano very early. He studied in National Conservatory and then in Paris Conservatory, in Salzburg Academy and the Juilliard Music School. 
As a classical pianist he has performed with some of the most important European orchestras and has participated in festivals throughout Europe and the USA.
He also took up the conductor's baton in 2006 and steadily increased his activity in that sphere. He also performs as a jazz pianist and has performed extensively in Europe and America.
His first personal album "Skyscape" was released in 1990. In 2000 he started his collaboration with ECM records, releasing the album "Achirana", with Arild Andersen on bass and John Marshall on drums.
He is Honorary President of the Sergei Rachmaninoff Greek Society and the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra of Athens.

Ο Βασίλης Τσαμπρόπουλος γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1967. Άρχισε να παίζει πιάνο πολύ νωρίς. Σπούδασε στο Εθνικό Ωδείο και στη συνέχεια στο Paris Conservatory, τη Salzburg Academy και το Juilliard Music School.
Ως κλασικός πιανίστας έχει παίξει με μερικές από τις σπουδαιότερες ορχήστρες της Ευρώπης και έχει συμμετάσχει σε φεστιβάλ στην Ευρώπη και την Αμερική.
Επίσης το 2006 ανέλαβε την μπαγκέτα του διευθυντή ορχήστρας, επεκτείνοντας σταθερά τη δραστηριότητά του και σε αυτόν τον τομέα. Δουλεύει και σαν τζαζ πιανίστας και έχει παίξει σε πολλές χώρες της Ευρώπης και στην Αμερική.
Το πρώτο του προσωπικό άλμπουμ "Skyscape" κυκλοφόρησε το 1990. Το 2000 εγκαινίασε τη συνεργασία του με την ECM records, κυκλοφορώντας το άλμπουμ "Achirana", με τον Arild Andersen στο μπάσο και τον John Marshall στα ντραμς.
Είναι επίτιμος πρόεδρος της Sergei Rachmaninoff Greek Society και μουσικός διευθυντής στη Μητροπολιτική Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα Αθηνών.
